IGBERE COMMUNITY IN DIASPORA

20190926_140814.jpg

Igbere Progressive Association International, Incorporation. (IPAI, Inc.) is an Association of Igbere sons and daughters of Ebiri Okomoko who live in diaspora, founded in 2005, by Igbere families who share common values and vision of strength in unity, who also saw the need to continue our union and cultural heritage while abroad. IPAI was incorporated in the State of Texas in 2007. As an organization, with the primary goal of uniting Igbere families, to continue our mission, and determination to harness every element of modern community development at our disposal for the development of our people. IPAI was never founded to be a competitive body to any Group, Association, or an organization, both within and without.

Note:

  • IPAI is an organization of Igbere sons and daughters and their wives.

  • IPAI represents Igbere Welfare Union (IWU) in diaspora.

  • That as long as you are from Igbere, you can join any of our independent branches in any part of the world namely, IPAI Texas, IPAI California, IPAI Tri-State New York, IPAI Washington DC, IPAI Southeast USA, IPAC Canada, IWU South Africa, IPAI Dubai, IWU Spain, IPAI South Korea and IPAI London UK.

  • We encourage every Igbere person in diaspora to join IPAI Chapter close to them, so that together, we can bring a lasting change to our community.

  • IPAI as a representative of (IWU) in diaspora, will continue to work with Igbere Welfare Union in Nigeria to bring all Igbere people together in unity.

Over the years, IPAI, Inc. has sponsored various projects directly beneficial to the Igbere community. Our notable targeted activities included financial partnerships towards the upgraded, Solar Powered Electricity, donation of needed medical services/supplies and sustenance of the Igbere Health Center. Each year, the Association funds numerous educational scholarships to Igbere sons and daughters, mounted much needed Street signs all over Igbere to enable better directional paths, recently commissioned phase 1 - (Onu Ibina) of our Project of rebuilding/renovation of all dilapidated primary schools in Igbere and currently on our ongoing phase 2 - Amankalu. Our effort also revolves around promoting charitable, educational, and scientific activities, to develop our community.

IPAI EVENTS

Every three years, Igbere Sons and Daughters around the World, have the opportunity to come together for the celebration of our enviable Cultural  Heritage, Oneness, and how we can advance our Community. Also, it is the time the Association looks into and deliberate on the State of our Union. These goals, we seek to achieve, by way of Conventions, commonly known as "EZUMEZU".

The Community

As was envisioned by the Elders, that the strenght of our community, is our unity and love for one another, which ultimately gave birth to Igbere Welfare Union.       "Onye' agba'la nge'nge!"

Sankofa_edited.png

In the Twi language of Ghana, Sankofa is a word that translates to “go back and get it”

It is a simple enough message that captures what we actually and naturally do when we realise we have left home without something that is important for the journey at hand. But what the Twi people of Ghana had in mind was more like going back to the past glorious or not, to pick what is good and bring it into the present in order to be ready for the future – the journey ahead. It is a perfect example of where it is okay to learn the lessons of history in order to repeat that history.
